You don’t have a soul. You are a soul - mind, body, and spirit. You were designed as an image bearer of God. God who is parent - or the mind. God who is child - or the body. God who is breath - or the spirit. You reflect the image of your design when your soul - mind, body, and spirit - is fully integrated.

But our integration can be either healthy or unhealthy. Unhealthy integration can look like a prioritization of one dimension at the expense of another. Healthy integration requires intentional care for your soul.

Welcome to the Summer of Soul Care.

  • What if 3 months could transform your future?
  • What if the rhythms and practices of Jesus could offer you a life-giving structure towards living fully alive?
  • What if you could live the way you were designed to live?

Jesus uses many metaphors to describe this fully alive life and the pathway to living it. In his Sermon on the Mount, he uses the imagery of two gates and two roads:

One is a wide gate and broad road. While the other is a small gate and narrow road. He says many people easily find the wide gate and broad road. While few people find the small gate and narrow road, but if they do find it it leads to life.

Then, later he describes himself as the gate. He says when you enter through him that when you live fully alive.

THIS WEEK: As we begin this journey, what is a metaphor, symbol, or image that describes the current state of your soul? (Maybe it’s garden, a mountain range, a city) Fast forward 3 months from now, what is flourishing in the image?

PRAY: God of Care - Thank you because you care for me. Not just one part of me, but all of me. You never separate me from myself, but you want to care for every part of who I am. Help me to choose the small gate and narrow road that leads to life this Summer. Teach me your rhythms and practices that lead to life - the life that I was meant to live. A life that is fully alive. Let it be so. Amen.
